Elon Musk says Twitter will launch ‘Verified’ service next week

Elon Musk said in a tweet on Friday that Twitter will launch its delayed “Verified” service next week, with differently colored checks depending on the type of account.

Twitter’s CEO said there would be a “gold check” for companies, a gray one for government accounts and the existing blue one for individuals, whether they are celebrities or not.

Musk said that all verified accounts will be “manually verified” before the checks are activated.

The billionaire called the move “painful, but necessary”

Musk’s comments came after he was forced to halt the $8-per-month Twitter Blue service, which allowed anyone paying for a subscription to have a Blue verification tick, after users abused the system by impersonating brands and famous people. was allowed.

The CEO said Monday that Twitter would delay the relaunch of its $8-a-month Blue Verified service. At the time, Musk said Twitter would “probably use [a] Check for different colors for organizations than for individuals.”
